Message from the Executive Director of Literate Masses

To our beloved Literate Masses family—our tireless volunteers, dedicated peace ambassadors, valued partners, and cherished supporters—it is with deep sorrow that I must share this difficult news.
Effective immediately, September 15, 2017, unforeseen circumstances have compelled us to suspend all operations until further notice. This includes our ongoing project, “Conflict Transformation and Youth-Led Peace Building Through Cultural Heritage and the Arts — District Swat.” All peace ambassadors, volunteers, and community members are kindly requested to pause their activities and await further guidance.
This decision was not made lightly. Recent misunderstandings regarding our youth-led initiatives have made it necessary to step back, reflect, and ensure that our mission remains aligned with the values we hold dear. Let me be unequivocal: Literate Masses has always operated with the deepest respect for our nation, our faith, and the communities we serve. Our work has never—and will never—seek to foster division or unrest.
Peace is not just our goal; it is our guiding principle. We recognize our duty to act with care, ensuring that nothing we do is misconstrued or risks harming the trust we’ve built. This temporary pause is a testament to that commitment—a chance to reaffirm our purpose and return with even greater clarity and unity.
Our love for this country and our faith remain unwavering. We hold firm to the belief that this interruption will soon pass, allowing us to resume our shared journey toward literacy, harmony, and meaningful progress.
To every member of this family, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your patience, understanding, and steadfast belief in our mission. Together, may we emerge from this moment with renewed strength and hope.
